Firm Philosophy
At the Law Offices of Vonde M. Smith, PC we provide zealous and seasoned representation for civil litigants. Our approaches are unique, creative, dependable, dynamic and strategic. We are devoted exclusively to civil litigation and conflict resolution.
We are a small firm. We can only help a fraction of the people who contact us, but we will work tirelessly for justice in the causes we accept. We are proud that our office is small. Having a small office allows us the flexibility to balance careers and active lifestyles and family while providing outstanding personalized service to our clients. If you visit the office, you are likely to find a fire in the fireplace and encounter a family member of Vonde’s or of a co-worker. Spouses, parents, siblings, children and family dogs are welcome visitors. These “interruptions” are accepted because they integrate the rhythm of life into our work and remind us of why we do what we do.
We believe in an integrative approach to practicing law. Vonde’s methodology is to thoroughly research, probe, analyze and prepare cases to uncover all information that is relevant to a client’s cause. Sometimes, this involves seeking out and engaging the most qualified scientists, doctors, engineers and professionals to help gather forensic evidence and educate ourselves about potential outcomes. Vonde’s strong knowledge of the law in a variety of jurisdictions, thorough research, creativity and persuasive writing combine for an aggressive practice which can assist in the favorable resolution of many cases at the early stages. In every phase of case preparation, we consistently integrate investigation, preparation, research, writing, advocacy and negotiation.
We are committed to pursuing clients’ individual interests. In some cases this means negotiating alternatives to the courtroom process. Justice in each respective case must be determined by the Client or Clients. Courtroom victories and large judgments are a form of justice that we are fully capable of pursuing. We are aware that in some situations the justice of a case may come from within the courtroom or just outside its doors. A good lawyer must be prepared for any possibility. Some clients seek commitments, policy changes or public acknowledgement from the people or companies that caused their personal tragedies—something a jury can’t require. It is important to identify the needs and desires of the client within the framework of what our legal system can deliver and attempt whenever possible to tailor our representation to those needs and desires. This is our goal.
Vonde Smith has extensive communication and conflict resolution training. Vonde has and employs individuals with strong legal research and writing skills, she has honed superior trial skills. Our investigation, litigation, writing and negotiation experience can help clients realize the maximum potential of their case. Vonde’s unique approach to practicing law allows her to take and successfully resolve cases in a way that provides meaningful justice to the people with whom she works.
